Community Through The Peloton Leaderboard

The Peloton brand is instantly recognized nowadays. It used to be a bit of a joke but since the pandemic happened, working out at home became quite popular. I’ve been part of the Peloton community since 2018 so I can attest that you get what you put in. The leaderboard has become a place where I’ve met so many people and consider them my true friends. It seems a bit odd but you can truly find community through the Peloton leaderboard.

From day one, it was evident that you could form mini groups within the Peloton platform. Fans of a certain instructor or business professionals would link up and often times workout together. With the addition of the Tags feature, it became much easier to find members with similar goals. Often times I’ll be on a ride with other SpeedHeads (fans for Andy Spreer) taking a class with Robin. Sometimes certain groups rally together and support a special ride. Peloton has simply made it easier to find your people.

Friendship In The Peloton Community

As silly as it may sound from the outside the Peloton Community truly welcomed me with open arms. I have met people that I truly consider my friends. When the pandemic hit and we suddenly found ourselves at home, we would chat CONSTANTLY. It would help us fill the time and filled our need for human connection. As much as it sucked being at home, I remember so many fun chats between us. And it’s so crazy to think that we only knew each other because of Peloton.

One of my close friends is Meridith! I would consider her my Pelo-bestie because we truly connected pretty early in 2020. When things started going south, we began to ride together as a way to create a routine. My work pretty much screeched to a halt and I was stuck at home. My gym permanently closed and I was missing my people so bad. Meridith and I talked about life and we basically there for each other during this. We understood things sucked and we were kind of looking around wide-eyed. However riding together and just being there for each other truly helped. Our talks started out with the basics like “How do I clip out?” and “Have you tried this class yet?” before getting into deeper conversations. We’ve never met in person but I truly consider her a friend!

It might take some time to navigate the platform but the friendships and community made within that leaderboard is absolutely amazing. If you are part of the Peloton community, I’d recommend reaching out and finding your group. Whether that’s Chase’s Tribe or #PelotonMoms. There will be a group or tag that matches your interest and you may even meet your new best friend!
