Favorite and Not-So-Favorite Peloton Workouts

We all have them: workouts that we absolutely avoid. Today’s blog post is specific to the Peloton platform. I wanted to share with you a few of the different types of workout available while sharing my favorite and not-so-favorite workouts.

Favorite and Not-So-Favorite Workouts: Peloton

Favorite Workout: DJ Rides

If you know me, I feel like this is a given. Live DJ Rides have an energy that is just different plus you get to see the relationship between DJ John Michael and other instructors. Depending on the instructor combination, these rides tend to have more of an EDM or House playlist. The ride structure follows the music and you’re always guaranteed to have fun.

Favorite Workout: Bike Bootcamp

This style of class was recently introduced but I absolutely love it. Many of my friends don’t have the Tread and I felt like they were missing out on bootcamps. Bike Bootcamp breaks up the class into bike sections and strength sections. This can be a full body workout in a short amount of time. If you’re someone who wants to get in some extra strength work but don’t want to miss out on a fun spin class, this is the workout for you!

Not-So-Favorite Workout: HIIT & Hills

Individually, these two formats aren’t bad. However when you combine them, I definitely have to hype myself up before starting the class. I’m not going to sugar coat it, these classes are challenging. However, they are very attainable. The main structure is HIIT section followed by a Hill section for recovery. If you give it your all during the HIIT section and scale back the hill, you give yourself enough of a break to be ready for the next HIIT section. I would recommend a warm up and cool down ride to bookend this class!

Not-So-Favorite Workout: Tabata

It takes a special kind of person to love Tabata classes and it’s not me! Don’t get me wrong, I gave it my honest shot. I even did Robin’s old Tabata programming where you start off with shorter classes and work you way up to the 45 minutes classes (hello PR!) but it was just not for me. This is nonstop work from beginning to end and you will definitely get off your bike knowing you gave it your all. These are great to challenging your cardio level but I would sprinkle them into your routine rather than knock them out every day.

Those are just a few of the type of classes offered by the Peloton platform. There is truly all kinds of workouts and no matter what mood you’re in, you’ll find a class for you!

What is your favorite and not-so-favorite type of workout on the Peloton platform?
