Race Recovery with Oofos!

Happy Friday friends! I hope you’re having a wonderful week. I’m finally back into my routine and I’m slowly getting better each day. Race recovery is no joke! When you give it your all, it takes time for our bodies to get back to normal. However, I’m practicing smart recovery this time around with plenty of healthy foods, stretching, and light mobility exercises (walking and yoga). Another thing that is part of my recovery arsenal are my trusty Oofos Sport Sandals!

When I first began working out, I used to go hard all the time. However, this is a good way to beat your body up. Learning to listen and adjust to your body’s needs is a major tool for endurance athletes. As runners, we’re on our feet for a good chunk of time. I have a desk job but there’s some days when I’m out on job sites and I have to wear clunky steel toe boots. I know they’re for my safety but they’re heavy and leave my feet super sore. Just like running, my feet tend to ache after walking in those all day.

Since we need our feet in good shape to get around and perform well, it makes sense that we should be mindful of our feet when it’s time for recovery. During marathon training, I made it an effort to get compression therapy at least once a week. After nailing my long run during the hot and humid morning, my feet were definitely aching and sometimes a bit swollen. Compression therapy helped to get everything flowing again but I was still lacking something. I have a pair of sandals that I wear often but they weren’t so comfortable after long runs. I wanted something that had the right amount of support that my feet needed. That’s where Oofos comes in!

Oofos are shoes designed to help athletes recover faster. Not many of us have the luxury to sit on the couch all day after long runs. Family events, commitments, and life have us on our feet. I’m still recovering from race day so I’m walking a bit slower. However, I had to stand for a long time at practice earlier this week. I was prepared though and made sure to wear my trusty Oofos Sport Sandals. Not only were my feet super comfy but they actually felt much better afterwards!
