Holiday Fun With The Scoobtober 5k!

Scoobtober

Happy Friday friends! I hope you’re having a good one! This week started off a bit bumpy with work but it has ended on a good note. My leg is feeling better each day and I’ve been working on strength training. There’s been plenty of walks mixed in as well. Our little Snowflake has definitely loved this because she has been my walking buddy As soon as I get home, she’s running to her leash and ready to go walk! We finally finished our virtual run series and to say that we had fun is an understatement!

Snowflake and I had the whole month of October to knock out the Scoobtober 5k (or 10k option). Having a Virtual Run to do in October worked well for me because I was recovering from the Chicago Marathon. I also traveled quite a bit so I was able to keep Snowflake active between trips. Now at our latest vet visit, we found out that Snowflake gained a couple of pounds so walking was definitely a must! With my weird calf issue, walking was my preferred method of movement. Being able to stay active and enjoy the outdoors was good for the both of us!

The best part of this race series? All the cute dog photos! With each virtual run, all participants (and their pups) received cool finisher medals. I absolutely love this collage of all the cute pups that participated in the September Doo Good 5k and I can’t wait to see all the adorable pictures with the Scoobtober medals! Being able to participate in a virtual run that allowed us to break up the distance into bit and pieces made it ideal. Snowflake likes people but can sometimes get very excited and wears herself out. Other times, Snowflake may not care to be around many people so a traditional race may not work for her. She’s also a sprinter and struggle with keeping a steady pace for long so being able to take her out on many short sprints worked well. Now that I’m rehabbing an injury, we go on walks so I’m able to get outside and enjoy the nice weather and she’s able to work on her pacing duties a bit more. I really enjoyed being part of this awesome race series and hope to do it again next year!
