Happy Friday friends! I hope you have had a wonderful week. My week seems to have gotten away from me and all of the sudden it’s Friday. I can’t believe it is also the Houston Marathon Race Weekend! I’ll be running the half marathon on Sunday but I’m very excited to be out there with thousands of other runners. Since we are over halfway through January, I wanted to pop in and share my experience with Whole 30 so far!

If you missed the post earlier this month, I am currently doing Whole 30 with my friend Coppelia. Having the buddy system has helped both of us stay accountable and really working toward keeping it compliant. My eating habits are rather healthy so doing Whole 30 was just a few tweaks here and there. Thanks to the internet, I haven’t had much trouble finding easy recipes to make each week.

Meal prep is a huge staple in my house. There were a few days in the last week where life got hectic and the last thing I wanted to do was throw my meals together. That usually meant “treating” myself to Chipotle. The great thing about Chipotle is that they literally have a Whole 30 approved bowl. My laziness level has gone up because I can literally order the bowl on my phone and have it delivered or swing by on my way home. Another restaurant saving me is Zoe’s. They label their menu to show which dishes are Whole 30 compliant. I don’t go out to eat very much but it helps because when I have a lunch meeting or just want something different.

As far as eating habits, I have to say that I am making my breakfasts a bit bigger so I don’t have to reach for snacks during the morning. This was something I had worked on with my nutritionist at the beginning of last year and I kind of got away from. My main issue is time because I tend to rush through breakfast even though it is the most important meal of the day! By giving myself enough time to make a good sized breakfast and taking the time to sit and enjoy it, I find that I’m not as hungry later on. I’m still getting the hang of it but it’s getting better! Second breakfast is now more like a snack than an actual second breakfast.

It’s been interesting reading other’s take on Whole 30. Coppelia and I plan to do another video once the month is over and I’ll be back to share more!
