Motivational Mantras!

Motivational Mantras

Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! My weekend was filled with lots of running and lots of good times with friends. Today, I wanted to focus on some positive affirmations. Lives can throw crazy things our way and I know that everyone has different situations. However, if we try really hard we can try to see the positive side of things. One way we can do this is through motivational mantras.

Motivational Mantras

I find that this really rings through with running. Sometimes, I’m out on a long run and I find myself in a dark place. I don’t like to use the word “hate” very much in my vocabulary but sometimes I’ll find that word drifting into my mind on these runs. “I really hate running, I hate how this feels, I hate this weather, blah, blah, blah” None of these things are true, yet they pop into my mind and these thoughts start to take their toll on my body. Suddenly it IS hard to keep going and it IS hard to breathe. Our minds are truly powerful. That is why we have to repeat positive mantras when runs get tough. These are a few of my favorite ones and I tend to say them to myself when my runs get hard.

“I Am, I Can, I Will, I Do” – Christine D’Ercole (A little more about this quote here)

“What if I fall? Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?” Erin Hanson (I have this one tattooed on my leg)

“Just keep moving.”

“Get comfortable with uncomfortable”

“Embrace the suck.”

“Stay in this mile. Just focus on this ONE mile”

Those are a few and of course what works for me may not work for you. Feel free to use any variation of this on your next run or workout!

Do you have a motivational mantra to keep you going?
