Looking Cute On A Budget!

Looking Cute On A BudgetSo there’s a bunch of cute clothes out there that I’m sure you’ve seen all. The thing is these things aren’t always cheap! My mom always taught me that you get what you pay for so if you’re on a budget, that can be sad news

However, if you’re smart about how you shop, you can get high quality clothing without breaking the bank. Now before going to the store, I would recommend setting a budget. If you can go to the store and just buy what you went for, then that’s great. If you get distracted by bright and shiny clothing, then you’re a lot like me. My husband has to pull me away sometimes, haha!

What I like to do for workout clothes is buy off season. What that means is that when cooler weather is coming and the stores want to get rid of all their shorts and tank tops, that’s when you go shopping! Hit the clearance racks and you’re guaranteed good stuff for better prices. Academy always does this and that’s where I’ve picked up a majority of my running pants.

Definitely one of my favorite brands. Affordable but high quality!

Target is another good store because they sell C9/Champion brand clothing. They have affordable basics and these gets cheaper when Target puts them on clearance. The Champion sports line is on the affordable end but they have such good quality items. There’s some pants that I have that I bought two years ago that are still in good condition. Don’t knock it until you try it!

Another weird tip is to shop the children section. If you have a smaller frame, Youth XL tank tops tend to fit. Obviously use caution in this approach because you wouldn’t want to leave the house looking, um, inappropriate. Youth sized t-shirts work as well.

If you don’t have a lot of workout clothes because you are just starting, I would recommend using old t shirts. Yes these can be cotton and may not be sweat wicking but they get the job done and there’s chances you have plenty around. I would get a good pair of shorts or pants and cycle them throughout the week. When you have a few extra bucks, hit up the clearance section to continue to build more outfits.

Thrift store. Need I say more?

There’s always the good old thrift shop. Now I would recommend buying men’s t shirts and cutting the sleeves off. Those tend to be cheaper and you get the same use. Some stores have athletic wear but if it’s used, it may be worn out and not the best buy. Patience is a virtue! Go to Goodwill with an open mind and search all the racks. You’ll find gems in there and clothing that’s barely been used. I know many people only wear stuff a few times before donating.

You can save up for a nice top or name brand stuff but honestly, that won’t do anything to your performance. Saving up and buying a nice piece as a reward can serve as good motivation. In fact, that was something I did when we were on a tighter budget.

When it comes to chaffing and blisters, that’s a different story. If you’re having that issue, there’s ways to get around that and I plan to write a post about that.

Let me know what awesome thrift store finds you’ve cone across!
