August Goals!

August Goals

Happy Wednesday everybody! Another month gone! Normally, I would ask if you believe it’s August but it definately FEELS like August here this week. I was drenched in sweat during the warm up for my workout earlier this week. I’m looking ahead to cooler weather. Until then, I decided to pop in and share my goals for the month!

August Goals

Before I get to my goals for August, I wanted to give a quick recap on what I accomplished in July. I wasn’t able to break 70 miles for the month but I wasn’t too far off with 59 miles for the month. The reason why I didn’t get closer and break 70 was because at the beginning of the month, my left knee started feeling weird so I took about two weeks off to let it rest. It was hard but I knew that it would bite if I didn’t. Luckily I feel much better and I have been able to crush my long runs!

I’ve cleaned up my nutrition and have been meal prepping like a pro! I’ve even made ahead my dinners and it’s been amazing! Now that I’m back to the swing of running and cross training so I can foam roll and stretch without having to worry about dinner prep. I still haven’t figured out my pre-long run dinner but I’m hoping to nail that down in August! Hydration has been well and I’ve been active on travel days so overall July was a great month!

August Goals:

  • Find and rehearse pre-run dinner
  • Buy hydration belt and practice long run fueling
  • Figure out race day outfit (and alternatives)

Keeping it short and sweet my goals this month. While I’m still about 67 days from race day (I’m mean, who’s counting right?!) I really want to get the details down and practice, practice, practice! My goal for race day is for all of this to be second nature so I can feel good about it. Especially since I’ll be traveling, I want to control all I can. I have my eye on a hydration belt. My plan is to fill it with electrolytes (either Nuun or Tailwind) and alternate with on course water. This will take planning to practice here at home but I want to get a few runs in with the belt.

I also want to get my sports bra figured out because I just haven’t been too happy with my options as far as chafing goes. TMI, but sorry not sorry. Also, I need to figure out my dinner before my long run. I have an idea so I just have to put it into practice and feel it out. My long runs alternate from Saturdays and Sundays so this will take extra planning on my part but I just need to stop being lazy and do it!

Yes, I’m a Type A person but honestly, knocking these things out will help me feel so much better on race day so I need to get my butt in gear!

How was July for you? What are your goals for August?
