What a weekend y’all! It definitely started with a bang when I signed up for the Houston Marathon! That’s 26.2 miles. Oh my word!
So how did I get here? Well, this year has been SUCH a whirlwind. I feel like I’ve been continuing to improve and become a better and stronger runner. I feel confident in my skills and the race is still far out enough that I can adjust my training and continue to build mileage after my half marathon in November. So getting started on your fitness journey is definitely a challenge but sometimes once you get going, you can get in a slump. Not only does your body get accustomed to your workouts but you aren’t mentally engaged and aren’t making progress.
At the beginning of this year, I started incorporating different types of workouts. I will forever enjoy running but I was starting to get burned out. I began following the Tone It Up community and began to fit in High Intensity Interval Training into my workout schedule. The fast paced full body workouts were a major shock to my body. First of all, these are just a few tips. This list is not meant to be all-inclusive. When I first started running, I wasn’t given much direction. I actually kept getting hurt and rolling my ankle and had no idea why. With some studying and help from physical therapists, I wanted to share what I learned to spare you some aggravation!
As busy as it was, this weekend was also a very relaxing one. I had another three day weekend due to Jordan getting a root canal on Friday. I drove him around and made sure he was taken care of. He was such a trooper!
Work was weird this week since I technically only worked three days so I had to fit my workouts whenever I could. After all his procedures were done, I was able to catch a class at Soulcycle! A new studio opened in town and I was able to score a free class. It was so different from what I’m used to at Ride but I definitely appreciated the workout. Continue reading Weekend Update!

This weekend was one of my favorites. I am lucky enough to have a three day weekend so I plan on relaxing and enjoying it. It’s supposed to be the unofficial end of summer but trust me y’all, Texas didn’t get the memo, haha!
