Movie Weekend and June Goals!

weekend

I can’t believe it’s already June! The humidity has hit Houston at full speed so I guess I should get used to frizzy hair and practice my ponytails again.

This weekend was a low key type of weekend. I had a list of things I wanted to get done this weekend but other than that, we just relaxed. Since the past few days we’ve been plagued with storms here in Houston, Jordan and I opted to pick up some movies at RedBox! There were so many movies we needed to catch up on we picked up a few and sprinkled them throughout our weekend.

We had coffee and donuts Sunday before church!

We ended up watching Hidden Figures, Monster Trucks, The Great Wall, and xXx Back In Action. It was an interesting mix but we enjoyed them! There was also a deal on cookie dough at the grocery store so of course we couldn’t pass that up.
There was a break in the weather and Jordan and I tackled our backyard. I helped with mowing and clearing out some dead brush. We are having professionals gut out the rest this week and I’m so excited about that! Once it’s clean, our backyard will look much bigger and we’ll be able to enjoy it this summer. We might even get us one of those inflatable pools, haha!

Since it’s a new month, I’ve been looking to make some new goals. Once summer time hits, it usually signals the beginning of training for fall races. I’ve wrestled with the question of whether to train for a half marathon or a full. A full marathon takes such a time commitment and I’m honestly having a blast at Crossfit right now and don’t want to give that up. With a new job starting soon (more on this later!) and a different commute, I think it’s best to stick to a half marathon.
That being said, I have picked a race in October which gives me time to build a solid base this month. I’ll continue going to crossfit twice a week and slowly ramp up my weekly mileage this month. My physical therapist stressed the importance of core strength and my hamstrings so that I could stay injury free this season. I truly believe crossfit will help with that and I vow to really take care of my body this summer. I’m aiming to PR in October with a finish under two hours so strength training and speed work will be a huge focus for me!

As we enter a new month, do you like to create a list of goals? I know school is out for a bunch of kiddos. Do you have any adventures planned this summer?
