Keeping Sane During The Holidays!

Well, it’s already November y’all! I can’t even believe it. I try to stay as stress free as possible during this time but I know everyone can use tips on keeping sane during the holidays!

This is a time of year filled with holiday work parties and spending time with family! I am a meticulous planner so last minute changes or anything new can definitely bump up my stress level. While I do love seeing family and going out, it can cause some stress, albeit good stress.Holidays

Plan ahead!

Hang a big family planner in the kitchen or the common area. Let all parties know of any responsibilities that need to be fulfilled by a certain time. If my husband is off early from work and I need an extra ingredient for a party treat that afternoon, I try to let him know ahead of time and confirm. This helps me save time and be assured that he’s got my back!

Ask for help!

Family get togethers are supposed to be fun! If you aren’t the best cook, ask a family member that is a natural chef for help. Or maybe bring something that is easy for you to make. If you’re assigned a task that isn’t necessarily your favorite, ask a family member to help you! Not only do you get the help you need to get it done but you have an extra chance for family time!

Keep your nutrition in check!

This one may seem to fall at the bottom of your list during the holidays but stay with me. It’s easy to forget to eat or stay hydrated while you’re running around making food and crafts and shopping. This is a fast track to getting sick! Now, you don’t want to get sick and miss out do you? It’s super important to make sure you are eating balanced meals with plenty of veggies during this time of year. Hydration goes by the wayside during winter time but your body still needs it! Make it a point to have set meal times and stick to them!

Work out!

Again, another tip that may seem hard to incorporate but hear me out! Make it a point to spend time with your family and go one walks if possible. In this case, shopping can be cardio if it’s a full day trip but find ways to head outdoors! When the weather starts to finally cool in Texas, my husband and I like to take walks after dinner. Make it a date with your loved ones to simply get moving. If you have kiddos, incorporate them in the mix. There’s nothing like rolling around in the leaves and playing football when the weather is just right. Stay active during this time can also help if you had just a little too much food!

I love the holiday season because it’s a time to cuddle up on the couch and watch cheesy movies. It’s also nice to get a break from the Texas heat we have during the majority of the year! What are some of your tips to stay sane during the holidays?
