Injury Update and Weekend Recap

Well if you haven’t heard the news, you may not know that I have a strained hip flexor. It’s a bummer but I think it’s been something that I have been neglecting for a while. This week has been resting and low impact cardio.

So what does this mean for marathon training? I’m actually not freaking out about it. I know that I’ll have to readjust my goals but I know that my body is strong and it will continue to be strong once I have recovered.

Saturday Recap

Saturday was going to be a full day and I was definitely looking forward to it! I continued to rest so I slept in and I ENJOYED it. I also got a haircut!

Haircut weekend recap

I wanted something different so I decided to chop it off and go for the uneven look. It feels so much lighter and it’s so much easier to get ready in the morning!

The day continued with a much needed massage. I had been doing yoga and so much stretching throughout the week since I’ve been taking it easy. I got a sports massage and my therapist mentioned that my hamstrings and hips were really tight. I wonder why, haha!

This weekend was the grand opening of a REI, Field and Stream, and Dick’s near us so we went to check it out! We got a bike rack for my husband earlier in the day and he was on the hunt for the perfect flashlight for his bike. I peeled away and found a replacement water bottle since the one I usually run with broke and has been leaking for weeks. I also found some compression shorts! I think I nearly have my marathon outfit!

Run recap

Since we had all these goodies, we were anxious to try them. We hit the running trail near us and I gave it a shot. I was surprised at how quickly I hit my pace but I was still holding back. I didn’t want to go to far so I cut it short. I didn’t feel any pain during running but I was a bit tight afterwards. I think this week will be more resting and maybe some runs.

Sunday Recap

Sunday was a good day! Woke up and there was still a chill in the air. Jordan and I took our left over bread and fed the ducks at the neighborhood park.

Duck weekend recap

After a delicious breakfast (hi Waffle House!) and church we headed back to our part of town! There was an airshow near us so we got to see plenty of flyovers by the Blue Angels throughout the afternoon!

airplanes recap

I’m excited for the week ahead. I play to continue to take it easy and try some slow runs until I feel confident again. How was your weekend?
